If you work in primary or community health in Rotorua and are planning to study, your pathway may be eligible for financial support. Limited funding from Rotorua Lakes Comprehensive Primary and Community Care Team (CPCT) is available to assist local kaimahi hauora (health employees) employed in community and primary health care settings on specific paths.
The intention of the funding is to strengthen hauora supports for local whānau by helping kaimahi to study towards the clinical and community health roles most needed for Rotorua. This includes kaimahi brand new to study, or those who want to further their existing education.
The fund is limited to essential roles for our region and covers both postgraduate tertiary or vocational training (NZQA L1-6). If eligible, the fund is available for study fees, and some assistance towards expenses associated with study and some release time from your workplace.
To be eligible to apply, there are basic criteria all applicants must first meet:
- Be kaimahi from the primary or community health workforce (employed by PHO, GP Practices, Hauora Māori and Pacific community providers, including aged care)
- Have a current practising licence (if one is required for your profession)
- Be an NZ citizen or hold NZ permanent resident status
- Meet the student entry criteria required by the education or training provider
- Have not already received funding or scholarship support for the intended course
- Employer supports the application for funding
This opportunity is made available through the Rotorua Lakes Comprehensive Primary and Community Care Team (CPCT),enabled by funding from Te Whatu Ora Health NZ. The funding available will end June 2025, however your requested course or paper can go beyond this date.
Applications are open until May 2025 and will be considered monthly by the CPCT Design Rōpū in Rotorua. Rotorua Lakes Comprehensive Primary and Community Care Team consists of; Manaaki Ora, Te Runanga o Ngati Pikiao, Rotorua Area Primary Health Service (RAPHS), Korowai Aroha and Western Heights Health Centre
